Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
