Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
